I’m Dr. Ralph Basui Watkins “The scholar with a camera!”—a husband, father, grandfather, photographer, professor, and spiritual leader. My journey blends faith, art, and education, and everything I do is rooted in three core values: fun, family, and faithfulness.
I specialize in African American portraiture, working from an Afrocentric perspective that honors our culture, beauty, and stories. Raised in Eatonville, Florida—the nation’s oldest Black incorporated town—I carry that legacy into every session.
Photography is more than a service—it’s a sacred moment. It’s how I show love, build connection, and help people see themselves in their full light. With every shoot, I bring creativity, care, and a sense of joy. We’re not just making images—we’re making memories.

My training from SCAD (MFA in Photography) and the University of Pittsburgh (PhD in Sociology) informs my work and ensures that I approach each project with both precision and passion.
